Seeing Habits and Scanning Patterns

- Primarily look forward in your path of travel 12 seconds ahead or about 1-2 city blocks maintaining the center of your lane. Never stare at any one object for more then 1-2 seconds

- Check your speed with a quick glance looking ahead while adjusting it (never stare at your speedometer while adjusting your speed)

- Check your rearview mirror when slowing or stopping and every 5-8 seconds in heavy traffic 

- Glance in your side Mirrors when traffic is overtaking you

- Glance left-right-left when approaching crossroads and train crossings
